Python Job: Software Engineer

Job Description

BACKGROUND

ProvEye is a new and exciting technology company that is looking to revolutionise the natural resources and agricultural industries through the use of advanced image processing of imagery from UAV’s and satellites. The company has received numerous awards for innovation and commercialisation and is an Enterprise Ireland High Potential Startup which has recently won a large contract from the European Space Agency. As part of our expansion, we are looking for an experienced software engineer with some of the following skills:

Essential

• Proficiency in Python programming language
• Experience creating applications and features in an object-oriented environment
• Experience with image processing, document processing or computer vision
• Experience with deep learning
• Experience in MLOps
• Experience in Python packages like OpenCV, GDAL, Rasterio, Numpy
• Experience of building application around image processing and analysis
• Good project management and verbal communication skills and an ability to write precise, detailed
• Experience in a Content Versioning System (CVS) e.g. SVN, GIT, Mercurial

Desirable

• Development using Python and backend frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI or Django
• Image analysis of satellite imagery – ideally multispectral
• Knowledge in distributed application architecture
• Knowledge of RDBMS e.g. MySQL, Postgres. Familiarity with NoSQL Databases e.g. MongoDB is a plus
• Consumed cloud services using the Python SDK, for example AWS S3 and SQS

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in computer science/ software development or related

PREFERRED SKILLS

• 2 - 4 years industry experience

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The successful candidate will work within a team to build and develop cutting edit software solutions that used advanced image processing and AI to address global issues around food security, biodiversity and sustainability. The candidate will have the flexibility of hybrid working environment, with opportunities in upskilling and career development. The interview panel will require access to examples of previous code via a GitHub repository or similar.
